Limitation / Disclaimer
The information posted in this Handbook and elsewhere on the University of Denver website is intended to provide general information and summarize various University policies, procedures, expectations and employee benefits. The official versions of University of Denver policies are posted in the University’s Policy Library. With the exception of the application of a particular state addendum to University employees working in that state, if there is any conflict between the information in this Handbook and a policy posted in the University’s Policy Library, the language in the posted policy supersedes the conflicting language in this Handbook.
THIS HANDBOOK AND ALL POLICIES, MANUALS, OR OTHER INFORMATION POSTED ON ANY UNIVERSITY OF DENVER WEBSITE DOES NOT CREATE A CONTRACT, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY OF DENVER AND ANY EMPLOYEE.
Except for the employment at-will provision, the University may change any information that is posted on any of its websites from time to time without prior notice. The University may deviate from the guidelines or any policy set forth on any University website as individual circumstances warrant and without prior notice.
Employment at DU is at will, meaning that the employee or DU may terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any or no reason, with or without advance notice. Except as provided in a written contract signed by an authorized representative of the University consistent with applicable policies, no employee has a guarantee or promise of employment with the University for any specific period of time. Further, no University employee or representative has the authority to make or otherwise enter into an agreement with any employee of the University concerning such employee’s length of employment with the University except in writing.
This Handbook will identify the provisions that apply only to appointed employees. Additionally, with respect to University employees who are members of the faculty, the Policies and Procedures Relating to Faculty Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) supersede the Handbook for matters addressed in the APT. With respect to University employees who are members of a collective bargaining unit, the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) supersedes the Handbook for matters addressed in the CBA. For all other matters not addressed specifically in the APT and the CBA, this Handbook governs those University employees.
